ANIME-INDUCED TOURISM DI JEPANG KONTEMPORER: PERAN BUDAYA POPULER DALAM PENGEMBANGAN PARIWISATA DAN INTERAKSI MULTIKULTURAL

Perkembangan budaya populer Jepang dalam bentuk anime, manga, game, dan berbagai produk industri kreatif lainnya telah memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan sektor pariwisata Jepang dalam beberapa dekade terakhir. Fenomena anime-induced tourism atau anime pilgrimage menunjukkan bahwa anime tidak lagi berfungsi hanya sebagai media hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai faktor yang memengaruhi motivasi wisatawan untuk mengunjungi berbagai destinasi di Jepang. Kondisi ini turut menciptakan ruang interaksi multikultural antara wisatawan internasional dan masyarakat lokal yang semakin intensif seiring meningkatnya mobilitas wisata global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran budaya populer Jepang, khususnya anime, dalam mendorong perkembangan pariwisata serta mengkaji kontribusinya terhadap terbentuknya interaksi multikultural dalam masyarakat Jepang kontemporer. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka (library research) melalui analisis berbagai artikel ilmiah, buku, laporan resmi, dan publikasi akademik yang relevan terbit pada periode 2021–2026. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anime telah berkembang menjadi instrumen soft power Jepang yang efektif dalam menarik wisatawan domestik maupun internasional melalui fenomena anime tourism dan otaku tourism. Selain memberikan dampak ekonomi bagi destinasi wisata, fenomena tersebut juga menciptakan ruang pertukaran budaya yang memperkuat pemahaman lintas budaya antara wisatawan dan masyarakat lokal. Di sisi lain, perkembangan wisata berbasis budaya populer juga menghadapi tantangan berupa overtourism, komersialisasi budaya, dan kebutuhan pengelolaan destinasi yang berkelanjutan. Luaran penelitian ini berupa penguatan kajian mengenai hubungan antara budaya populer, pariwisata, dan multikulturalisme yang dapat menjadi referensi akademik serta bahan pertimbangan dalam pengembangan kebijakan pariwisata berbasis industri kreatif di Jepang maupun Indonesia.
