The Mitoni tradition is a cultural heritage of the Javanese people that has been upheld for generations. It refers to a customary practice passed down from ancestors and inherited from one generation to the next. The Mitoni ceremony is a sacred Javanese tradition that marks the seventh month of pregnancy. This study aims to describe the local wisdom embodied in the Mitoni tradition— a ceremonial rite conducted during the seventh month of pregnancy— and to analyze how this tradition is practiced by communities across the island of Java, from preparation stages to ceremonial execution. The data collection technique utilized in this research is literature study, drawing from journals and digital books. The findings reveal that every aspect of the Mitoni ceremony carries profound symbolic meanings such as fertility, protection, and hope for the mother and child. Although these symbolic interpretations evolve with changing times, the core essence of Mitoni continues to be preserved as an integral part of Javanese cultural identity.
